Community Practices

Your presence supports you and the Rainbow Mind community.

  • Regular attendance is encouraged. When attending a session, please arrive on each call 2-5 minutes early and stay until the end of each session.

  • Please keep your camera on, even during meditation if possible. This greatly supports our community.

  • Your device is a portal to sacred space that we are creating together. Before arriving on the call, ensure your notifications are silent/off. You might find it supportive to close all other computer windows. Please turn off your cell phone - some find it helpful to keep it in a different room.

  • Situate yourself in a quiet, comfortable space with a solid internet connection and good lighting. Some participants choose to create a comforting space with a candle, plant, etc. Find a place where you can comfortably put your attention on your own presence.

  • Bring a yoga mat (or be able to comfortably lie down), cushion/chair (for seated meditation), journal, pen, water.

  • What do you need to keep comfortable? Spend a moment checking in with your body and see what posture feels most supportive to you—maybe on the ground, in a chair, on the bed, on a cushion, lying down, sitting upright, resting your back against the wall. There is no “right” way—recognize and honor how you feel.

  • Practice mindful listening and reflection; assume that others do not want advice.

  • Keep all conversation and Google group shares “within the space” and fully confidential.

Group Information

  • Morning sessions include 30 minutes of guided meditation. Spend a moment checking in with your body and see what posture feels most supportive to you—maybe on the ground, in a chair, on a cushion, lying down, sitting upright, resting your back against the wall. There is no “right” way—recognize and honor how you feel.

  • Familiarize yourself with member-content if it supports your practice. You will also receive weekly emails referencing our sessions and the themes that arise.

  • A Google group is offered for reports, reflections and questions. Posting in the group is totally optional.

  • 15-20 minute 1:1 meetings via Zoom are available. Please see the weekly email to schedule a meeting.

Host a Sit

We recognize and embrace the learning and connection that is possible just by sitting together. Members may choose to host additional group meditations. Sessions begin with a bell followed by unguided group meditation and a closing bell. Please see meditation instructions in the virtual member area.

  • Instructions to host a sit:

    • Decide when you would like to host a sit. Sits can be a “one time thing” or regular (weekly, monthly, etc). They can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Totally up to you!

    • Get a partner. The partner idea is to ensure you will not be sitting alone (since all sits are optional). Send an email to Adam indicating the date/time you would like to host.

    • If possible, create the meeting in your own Zoom account. Send the meeting link to Adam.

    • Once a sit is confirmed, Adam will send the link and calendar invite out to the whole group.

    • Host your sit!
